Man Charged With Abortion Clinic Plot Indicted

(AP) BALTIMORE The US Attorney's Office says a man accused of plotting to attack an abortion clinic with a pipe bomb and handgun was indicted yesterday on weapons and explosives charges. Robert Weiler, of Forestville, was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of possessing and making an unregistered destructive device, illegally possessing a firearm, and possessing a stolen firearm. According to court documents, 25-year-old Weiler called the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on June 8th from a western Maryland rest stop to confess to the alleged plan. He allegedly told authorities that he built a pipe bomb, stole a handgun from a friend and planned to attack a Greenbelt abortion clinic. The pipe bomb exploded that morning in the Riverdale house of Weiler's friend as a bomb technician tried to defuse it.
