Anti-abortion protesters plan to bury fetus at park

With anti-abortion exhortations blaring from a loud speaker outside the Jackson Women's Health Organization, about 40 Operation Save America protesters continued their campaign this morning to close the state's last abortion clinic. The clinic, on North State Street in the Fondren area, saw patients from 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. today before closing its doors. When the staff and patients left, only the abortion protesters were left. No counter demonstrators showed up, and few police officers were on the scene. The protest is in its sixth day of a planned eight-day event. They city issued Operation Save America, formerly Operation Rescue, a permit that allowed it no more than six protesters and allowed it to protest only on the site of the clinic from 7 a.m.
