Rally discusses abortion ban effort of SD Legislature

Even if South Dakotans vote to overturn a state law banning nearly all abortions, the state is doing the right thing in working to eliminate the procedures, said Aberdeen attorney Rory King. King was one of several speakers at a Vote Yes For Life campaign kickoff event Thursday at the Ramada Inn. The law, passed earlier this year by the South Dakota Legislature, speaks the truth to the rest of the nation, King said. That truth, he and others said, is that abortions are harmful to unborn babies, their mothers and families. It's time to challenge the abortion-on-demand policy that prevails nationwide as the result of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision, King said. Dr. David Wachs of Aberdeen agrees. There is a wealth of new scientific knowledge since the 1973 Roe decision, he said.
